This course is designed to teach students the basic skills of drawing in the
academic tradition. Over the course of the four weeks, students will use
traditional techniques to execute a Bargue Plate copy and begin work on a cast
drawing.
*For an additional fee, students may come to Black Barn Studio for a second work
session, each week (day TBD). No new formal group instruction will take place at
these extra sessions, but James will be present to offer assistance and critique
progress.

What to expect from this 4 week class
In this ongoing 4 week class, artist James Andrews demystifies the practice of creating beautiful, classical realism drawings by walking students through the same skills passed down for hundreds of years in ateliers throughout Europe.
This class, which will explore both barge plates and cast drawing, is ideal for both beginners and for those who have experience but have long searched for a way to better organize their work and take it to a higher level.
